Processing applies to everything the buyer paid you: item, shipping and taxes. All fees are reversed automatically if a Depop Payments sale is refunded.
Worked example
A US seller lists a jacket at $60 with $8 shipping on a Depop label and the buyer pays $5 sales tax. Processing is 3.3% of $73 plus $0.45, which is $2.86; the $5 tax is remitted; the seller receives $65.14. If the buyer came through a boosted listing, add 12% of $60, which is $7.20, for a payout of $57.94.
Questions sellers ask
- Does Depop charge a selling fee?
- Not to sellers in the US, UK or Australia. Depop's seller fees page says no selling fees are charged to sellers based in those countries; sellers elsewhere pay 10% of the item price plus shipping where a Depop label is not used, with PayPal's own fee on top.
- What do US sellers pay then?
- Only the Depop Payments processing fee of 3.3% plus $0.45, on the item price, shipping and any taxes, deducted before payout. If the sale came through a Boosted Listing, a 12% boost fee on the item price is added.
- How much does Depop take from a $40 item with $5 shipping?
- In the US, 3.3% of $45 plus $0.45 is $1.94, so you receive $43.06. In the UK on a £40 item with £5 shipping, 2.9% of £45 plus £0.30 is £1.61.
- What is the buyer's marketplace fee?
- A fee Depop charges the buyer, up to 5% of the item price plus a fixed amount up to $1, £1 or A$1, excluding shipping and taxes. It applies in the US since 18 July 2024, the UK since 15 April 2024 and Australia since 22 July 2026, where the listing price shown to buyers now includes it. It does not come out of your payout.
- What is the boosted listing fee?
- 12% in the US and UK for listings created from 23 March 2026 and 8% in Australia, charged only when a buyer who saw the boosted listing buys within 28 days. The base is the item price excluding taxes, plus shipping you arranged yourself; shipping on a Depop label is excluded.
- Why does one Depop page show 3.3% + £0.45 for the UK?
- Depop's seller fees table lists 2.9% plus £0.30 for UK Depop Payments, while the worked example on its Boosted Listings Policy uses 3.3% plus £0.45. We use the fee table and flag the inconsistency here until Depop resolves it.
