How Mercari fees work

Mercari simplified its fees in January 2025: one 10% selling fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, and nothing else on the seller side. The buyer pays a separate 3.6% buyer protection fee on the same base. Listing is free. Whether the buyer or you pay for the prepaid label changes your costs but not the 10% fee, which includes buyer-paid shipping only.

Worked example

You sell a jacket for $80 and the buyer pays $13.09 for a 2 lb label. Mercari’s fee is 10% of $93.09, which is $9.31, so $83.78 lands in your balance. If instead you offer free shipping and buy the same label yourself, the fee is 10% of $80, $8.00, you receive $72.00 and your label costs $13.09, leaving $58.91 before the cost of the jacket.

Questions sellers ask

What is Mercari's selling fee in 2026?
10% of the item price plus any buyer-paid shipping, for listings created or updated on or after 6 January 2025. There is no separate payment-processing fee on those listings; the old $0.50 plus 2.9% processing fee applied to the buyer on legacy listings only.
Does the buyer pay a fee too?
Yes, a 3.6% buyer protection fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, shown in the buyer's final price. It does not come out of your payout, but it affects what the buyer sees, so price with it in mind.

10% of $57.99, which is $5.80. You receive $52.19 before your own costs.
What does it cost to cash out?
